So for a 4x4 grow tent with an area of 106 cubic feet a grow tent fan inline fan rated for 200cfm would get the job done.
For those using a smaller grow tent look for a 4 fan.

For the majority of grow tent growers a passive intake system works perfectly.
In this case the best way is to connect the carbon filter to the intake of your exhaust fan inside your grow space grow tent.
Installing an inline fan shouldn t be rocket science.
There are 2 ways you can set up your carbon filter based on whether you re using air cooled hid lights or not.
Instead the inline exhaust fan will suck the air out of your tent creating a vacuum.
Passive systems will actually not use an intake system.
The only issue with grow tents is that they have poor air circulation.
That said the recommended approach is to hang the fan and filter inside the tent.
A grow tent with the aforementioned dimensions will need an inline fan of about 4 inches most of which have a cfm of about 190 more than enough for the tent.
There are two ways you can set up the intake system for your grow tent.
